Château Peyros

Château Peyros

Chateau Peyros is a 17th century estate situated in the souther part of Madiran. In 1999, Jean Jacques Lesgourgues bought the estate and began the process of modernizing and revitalizing this historic property. Peyros, which means "stony place," sits atop soils of clay and limestone but the vineyards themselves are covered in the large rolled stones (galets roules) left after the last ice age. The 20 hectares of the estate are farmed sustainably utilizing organic treatments while a herd of sheep walk around the property from May through October grazing the grasses between the rows of the vines and creating manure for enriching the soil.
