The Domaine Edmond Vatan is located in the small village of Chavignol in the county of Cher. The domaine produces « le Clos de la Néore », probably the most sought-after wine in Sancerre appellation… and also the most confidential ! Only 4.000 bottles are produced per year, to be relativized depending on climatic conditions to which the domaine is deeply attached. That is to say that being lucky enough to get a taste of these crus is all about privilege. You will furthermore find very few info on the Domaine Edmond Vatan : confidential, we said. Confidential and also singular. The vines are planted on kimmeridge, a stratigraphic subsoil dating back from Late Jurassic ! This clay-limestone soil rich in sea-shells fossils provides a mineral salinity on the finale. A singularity that’s been well leveraged by the Vatan family.
