From the left side of the Serein, situated on a steep flank of the hill of Montmains, above and to the west of les Forets, lies the 1er cru Butteaux. Servin’s tiny parcel of Butteaux adjoins that of Raveneau.
Old vines, perfect exposition, and extremely rocky Kimmeridgian soil composition, make Butteaux a special wine, and one that is perhaps unsurpassed even by the Grand Cru for its expressiveness of character.
